Medeama SC striker Jonathan Sowah said he is happy with the invitation to feature for Ghana after being included in the squad.
Sowah, has been handed his maiden call up to the Black Stars by Coach Chris Hughton as Ghana prepares to face the Central African Republic in Kumasi on Thursday in their final group game to the AFCON tournament in Cote D’Ivoire next year.
The Black Stars will also face Liberia in an international friendly next week Tuesday also in Kumasi with both games at the Baba Yara Stadium.
“I’m very happy for this call up into the Black Stars, many thanks to Coach Didi Dramani who taught me a lot at the Local Black Stars camp”, Sowah told radio station Akoma 87.9 FM.
He added: “It has always been my dream to play for the national team, and I will make the most of this opportunity.”
Sowah, is the only locally based player to be included in the squad, and he looks up to Ghana’s all time top scorer Asamoah Gyan for inspiration.
“I want to emulate what Asamoah Gyan did for Ghana with the Black Stars. I thank God for granting my wish and all I need to do is to work hard, pray and fight for a chance,” he said.
“I am here to stay, even if I have to fight with the last drop of my blood, I will do it, Sowah added.
The striker scored 12 goals in 20 games last season as Medeama SC won their maiden Ghanaian top-flight title and he also he scored twice against Dreams FC in the Super Cup last Sunday in Cape Coast as they triumphed 2-1.
The former Danbort FC striker, is also the first player to score for Medeama SC in the CAF Champions League as he effort helped in eliminating Remo Stars of Nigeria at the Preliminary round stage.
