Amateur boxer Jonathan Tetteh has promised to win gold for Ghana to secure qualification to the Paris Olympics next year.
The heavyweight, is one of 12 boxers representing Ghana in Dakar, Senegal at the African qualifiers to the Olympics in 2024.
The tournament starts on Friday in the Senegalese capital where amateur boxers from the continent, will seek to secure places to the Paris Olympics.
And, this is what Tetteh has promised ahead of his participation in the Road to Paris championship.
“I am going to win gold at the African boxing qualifying tournament in Senegal, and nothing can stop me,” Tetteh told totalsportsghana.com prior to their departure.
Tetteh, and his colleagues departed Accra for Senegal on Wednesday for the event with Team Ghana in high spirits of doing well.
“I have trained and prepared myself very well for this championship, and I am confident of winning gold in Senegal,” he added.
“The ultimate is to qualify for the Olympics, and I will cap it off with the gold medal, this, I can promise Ghanaians,” he said.
Coach Ofori Asare is equally confident of his charges doing well in Senegal with the competition set to end on September 15 in Dakar.
Ghana will look to qualify as many boxers as possible to the Olympics next year where the Black Bombers will aim to improve on the bronze medal they won at the last Tokyo Games.
