Asante Kotoko SC has expressed strong disagreement with the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Disciplinary Committee’s verdict concerning their match against Nations FC on October 22, 2023. The committee imposed fines amounting to GHS 80,000 on the club, GHS3,000 on Equipment Officer Issah Amadu, and GHS3,000 on player Sherif Mohammed for alleged misconduct.
The club vehemently denies the charges and emphasizes that the committee failed to consider their defense adequately, solely relying on the Match Officials’ report. Asante Kotoko contends that Issah Amadu was not even officially present as part of their officials during the match, raising questions about the authenticity of the claims made against him.
Asante Kotoko further highlighted their requests to the GFA for an opportunity to personally present their case alongside the match officials to understand how the conclusions were reached, a request that was reportedly denied.
The club reiterated its stance of non-agreement with the GFA Disciplinary Committee’s decision but conveyed its decision to refrain from further commentary on the matter.
In an unfortunate turn, the GFA also fined Asante Kotoko GHS5,000 for misconduct charges relating to their match against Karela FC, which took place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on October 1, 2023.
