The Ghana Football Association Players and Status Committee have delivered a significant verdict, instructing Accra Hearts of Oak to compensate Gladson Awako with an amount totaling One Hundred and Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢120,000). The sum encompasses unpaid salaries, bonuses, and the unlawful termination of his contract.Awako signed a three-year contract with Hearts in August 2021 a transfer that caused controversies between the two rival clubs.The 32-year-old established himself as an essential component for the Phobians, assisting the club to win the MTN FA Cup and the President Cup.
As an experienced figure with the Hearts team, Awako was announced skipper of the side following the departure of longtime captain Fatawu Mohammed.
Awako remains one of the most experienced players in the local league having played for the likes of Berekum Chelsea, Heart of Lions, and Great Olympics among others. In response, the management of Accra Hearts of Oak has declared their intention to file an appeal against the ruling, signaling a potential legal battle on the horizon.
