National futsal coach Philip Boakye has led his charges secure qualification to the 2024 AFCON futsal tournament in Morocco.
Ghana, qualified to the April event at the expense of Cote d’Ivoire on the away goals rule after the two-legged affair ended 6-6 on aggregate.
In last Friday’s second leg encounter, Ghana beat Cote d’Ivoire 6-2 in Abidjan to make the aggregate score 6-6 thus qualifying on the away goals rule.
Cote d’Ivoire, had earlier won the first leg tie 4-0 in Cape Coast, as they chased qualification ahead of the Ghanaians.
This is a massive achievement for coach Boakye, who is on the books of Kaysports Limited, a Ghanaian full service sports agency that focuses on sports development, will aim to achieve further success at the tournament in Morocco.
Ghana will look to win the event for the first time after losing to Egypt in the grand finale of the maiden edition in 1996.
The 2024 futsal AFCON tournament, will be held in Rabat, Morocco from April 8-17 with the top three teams qualifying for the 2024 FIFA World Cup in Uzbekistan later this year.
