Ghanaian defender Baba Rahman experienced a terrifying moment during the Greek Cup semi-final between Panathinaikos and PAOK, as he lost consciousness after a collision with an opponent.
Rahman, who is currently playing for PAOK FC, was struck in the head by an opponent’s knee while heading the ball, causing him to lose consciousness momentarily. The incident happened during the 115th minute of the match, which had gone into extra time following a 2-2 draw in regular time.
Medical personnel from both PAOK and Panathinaikos teams acted quickly and professionally to assist Rahman, who thankfully regained consciousness. However, as a precaution, he was taken to the hospital for further treatment in an ambulance.
The match was temporarily suspended due to the incident, but eventually resumed and concluded with Panathinaikos prevailing 6-5 in a penalty shootout. This win secured their place in the Greek Cup final.
Rahman has been a key player for PAOK FC since joining them permanently last summer. In the ongoing season, he has contributed three goals and two assists in 18 league matches for the club.
