Record Ghana top scorer Asamoah Gyan said the upcoming All Regional Games (ARG), is aimed at unearthing more sporting talents for Ghana to be groomed for success.
The former Ghana captain, has teamed up with organizers of the event, hoping to offer a platform for young budding athletes to bring their talents to the fore as they aspire to great heights.
Gyan, was speaking at the launch of the event in Accra on Tuesday where details of the maiden edition was announced.
He said, the long term target is to lift up the image of Ghana sports on the world stage going forward.
And, this is what the organizers intend to achieve within the shortest possible time, hoping to tap off some of the achievements of the recently ended African Games in Accra.
The 2024 ARG, will involve nine sporting disciplines, athletics, basketball, football, tennis, armwrestling, boxing, volleyball, E-Sports and Para-Sports.
All the 16 regions of Ghana conduct trails to selection their teams (men and women), for the national event in Accra in November where champions would be crowned.
This nationwide competition, will be a major step towards unearthing the next generation of Ghanian athletes, and the organizers have put together a strong technical team for all nine disciplines that would be competed for at the event.
These technical team members, would be on hand at the regional trails to select the best athletes for the national event.
The regional trails will begin in June and end in September before the national championship is held in Accra in November.
There, the best athletes would be supported to bring their talents to appreciable standards, capable of competing for Ghana at the international stage.
