In a major coup for sports broadcasting in sub-Saharan Africa, StarTimes has announced its successful acquisition of the non-exclusive broadcast rights for the esteemed Spanish football league, LALIGA EA Sports and LALIGA Hypermotion, for the next five seasons.
LALIGA EA Sports stands as the pinnacle of football excellence in Spain and ranks among the top professional football leagues globally. Featuring 20 premier teams, each season comprises 38 thrilling rounds with 10 matches per round, adhering to a competitive home and away format. LALIGA’s illustrious history includes producing numerous winners of prestigious awards such as the Ballon d’Or and the FIFA World Player of the Year.
With this groundbreaking agreement, StarTimes secures the rights to broadcast LALIGA EA Sports and LALIGA Hypermotion for the seasons spanning 2024/25 to 2028/29. The broadcasts will be available in all languages except French, encompassing English, Portuguese, and local languages, ensuring widespread access across all countries in the sub-Saharan region.
