The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) has reportedly secured the exclusive television rights to broadcast the Ghana Premier League for the next five seasons, according to Oyerepa FM. GTV Sports+, GBC’s dedicated sports channel, will now be the official broadcaster of the league after reaching an agreement with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
This deal follows the expiration of the GFA’s previous contract with StarTimes, leading to a new bidding process where GTV Sports+ emerged as the top bidder, offering the best terms among competing media companies.
The GBC’s five-year agreement with the GFA is reportedly valued at $2 million and will cover both the Ghana Premier League and the FA Cup. This partnership is expected to enhance the visibility and accessibility of Ghanaian football nationwide. Further details regarding the deal are anticipated to be announced soon.
