The newly built TNA Stadium at Tarkwa will host the official curtain raiser to the Ghanaian football season later this month.
Ghana Premier League (GPL), Champions FC Samartex 1996, will take on 2024 MTN FA Cup winners Nsoatreman FC, in the Champion of Champions clash on August 31, 2024.
The Champion of Champions clash, Ghana’s version of the Super Cup, traditionally kicks off the new football season each year.
The TNA Stadium in Tarkwa has been chosen by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) after it was opened for official use early this month.
The facility was constructed by the Goldfields Foundation as part of the social responsibility to the mining township of Tarkwa and its environs.
The facility is currently hosting the GHALCA Four competition, a pre-season tourney for three top-flight sides and one from the Division One League.
The stadium will serve as home venue for GPL side Medeama SC who beat rivals Asante Kotoko 2-1 in opening the facility on August 16.
The game between FC Samartex and Nsoatreman FC, will kick off at 6:00 PM local time.
