The Ghanaian contingent at West Texas University, USA, has increased following the addition of athlete Asana Hamidu.
The former Jachie Praso Senior Secondary School student, joins the American university on a full sports scholarship after some impressive performances over the last couple of years.
The Ghana national athlete, joins from the University of Education, Winneba, and will continue with her education under a guided programme.
Hamidu, competed for Ghana at the 13th African Games in Accra in March where she made the 400m women’s final.
The 23-year old, also competes in the 400m, and will be expected to develop into a better athlete under the guidance of some quality coaching at the American university.
Her personal best is 59.98s in the 400m hurdles set on March 21, 2024 and 55.27s recorded on May 21, 2022.
Other Ghanaian athletes that have passed through the West Texas University (past and present), includes Benjamin Azamati, William Amponsah, Abraham Seaneke, Isaac Botsio and Aziz Mohammad.
