The 2024 African Open Pro fight night, is set to thrill according to promoter of the event Steavano Tuekpe.
Some of the best kick-boxers in Ghana and others from Togo, will be on stage at the Sports Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium to battle for honours in the second edition of the event.
It comes off on Saturday, September 7, 2024, and, promoter Tuekpe expects a thrilling atmosphere on the day.
“I expect to see some thrilling bouts on Saturday, and I wish the boxers the very best on the day”, he said on Thursday.
That was during the press launch of this year’s edition at the Decathlon Sports Shop at Kawukudi in Accra.
Promoter Steavano Tuekpe who is also the Vice President of the Ghana Kickboxing Federation, said, this will not only be about fighting but, other aspects that makes one disciplined that are derived from the sport.
Nii Dr. Adote Dzata I, called for the promoting of the sport and other combat sports for self defence and protection, adding that kickboxing is an interesting and lucrative sport so it should be organized professionally.
President of the Federation Yakubu Abdul Razak aka Commando, said the sport is not a bad one but, a profession as well as a pastime.
Ghana has produced world class fighters and champions like Steavano Tuekpe, Lawrence Nmai and Nii Dzata aka Joe Mingle, Alhassan Okine and Gerald Dah.
Three titles will be at stake including the Africa Pro, Inter Continental and Continental belts.
Winners of the African Open 2024 will become ambassadors and promote the sport with the federation.
