Raheem “Baddo” Animashaun of Nigeria became the youngest boxing champion in Africa when he claimed the West African Boxing Union light-welterweight title on Sunday.
Baddo, defeated Ghana’s Richman Ashelley via TKO in the 7th round of their title fight on the De-Lad’s Boxing Promotions card at the NIS, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The 16-year-old, was makung his second professional appearance on the De-Lad’s Boxing Promotionsm.
The promising starlet, now holds a record of 10 victories in as many professional fights with five knock out wins.
“This title is just a stepping stone to my winning more titles in the future ,” he said after his win on home soil.
He added: “I believe I have the qualities of Rocky Marciano, Azumah Nelson, Manny Pacquiao, Sugar Ray Leonard, Iron Mike Tyson, and Anthony Joshua to become an undisputed world champion.”
And, the youngster will look to build on his early rise to prominence, hoping to become the world champion he craves for.
