Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s contingent returned to Ghana after their trip to the USA without two of their Sudanese players, Esmat AbdalHamid Mohamed and Obdoelkarem Yoouef Yagoub. The two players mysteriously left the team’s hotel in Springfield, Virginia, just before the final training session for the Capital City Cup.
According to Seidu Adamu, who accompanied the team during the USA visit, the departure of these players was planned in advance. Before leaving Accra for the United States, the players left their travel bags with the Sudanese national team to be sent back to Sudan. They reportedly carried only their playing kits and a few clothes for the trip, suggesting that everything had been arranged before their departure from Kumasi.
As of now, the players have not rejoined the team, leaving their situation uncertain. It raises questions about the circumstances surrounding their disappearance and what plans they may have moving forward. Asante Kotoko is expected to address the issue in due course.
