Record Ghana champions Asante Kotoko have some daunting tasks ahead in their quest to win this season’s championship.
The Porcupines, will next play reigning champions FC Samartex in a home game at the Len Clay Stadium, Obuasi where they have adopted as home venue after the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, was closed down for renovations.
This, is a tough task for Kotoko as they face a Samartex side that is unbeaten in the Ghana Premier League (GPL ), after six matches just as the Porcupines who have played five matches with a game in hand.
After this Matchday Seven fixture against FC Samartex on Sunday, Asante Kotoko will head to Aiyinase to play newcomers Basake Holy Stars at the CAM Park in a Matchday Eight encounter.
The Aiyinase venue, has seen Kotoko record some famous wins when Karela United played their home games there, and they will hope it continues against the league debutants when the game comes up.
However, they have tasted a couple of defeats there, and Holy Stars will look to add to that when Kotoko visits the CAM Park, Aiyinase.
After this fixture, Asante Kotoko will return to the Len Clay Stadium, Obuasi to play old foes Heart of Lions in a Matchday Nine encounter.
Games between these two sides, have been fiercely contested affairs in the past, and observes can expect another of such battles in the mining township.
Kotoko’s outstanding game, will then come up when they trek to the capital to play Legon Cities at the University of Ghana Stadium, Legon in what should also be a keenly contested affair.
The Porcupines, will then have an away encounter when they travel to the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, to confront the might of local side Bechem United.
That fixture, have never failed to excite, and football fans in Bechem, can look forward to another exciting game.
As they aim to win this season’s championship, Asante Kotoko will look to maximize as many points as possible from their next five games, hoping that it spears them towards a record extending 25th GPL title.
