Asante Kotoko’s pursuit of a fourth consecutive victory was halted in a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Basake Holy Stars at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Stadium in Nzema Anyinase on Sunday afternoon.
Kotoko took the lead in the 36th minute with a well-placed strike from Albert Amoah, looking to continue their winning momentum.
However, the home side rallied back and found an equalizer in the 81st minute, securing a crucial point and denying Kotoko the opportunity to ascend to the top of the league table.
Despite dominating possession with 58% and matching Holy Stars in goal attempts (24 each), Kotoko couldn’t capitalise on their chances, with both teams registering 11 shots on target.
The draw leaves Kotoko three points behind league leaders Bibiani GoldStars, who secured a stunning victory over Hearts of Oak.
Looking ahead, Kotoko will face Legon Cities in a midweek match, eager to return to winning ways after this somewhat disappointing result.
