Bibiani Goldstars FC continued their impressive form in the Ghana Premier League with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Hearts of Oak at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
This vital win solidified Goldstars’ position at the top of the league standings and marked a significant end to Hearts’ five-game unbeaten run under coach Aboubakar Ouattara.
The match saw Hearts of Oak dominate possession in the first half, controlling the tempo and testing the Goldstars’ defence. However, Goldstars’ goalkeeper Emmanuel Kobi proved resilient, making several key saves to keep the scoreline even as Hearts pushed for an early lead.
Despite their control, the Phobians couldn’t capitalize on their chances. In the second half, Goldstars grew into the game and seized their opportunity in the 69th minute when Samuel Atta Kumi scored the decisive goal.
This was Kumi’s third goal of the season, continuing his fine form and helping the Miners maintain their unbeaten streak. Hearts had a chance to equalize with a penalty late in the match, but Kobi’s outstanding save from Hamza Issah preserved Goldstars’ lead.
