Record Ghana champions Asante Kotoko will aim for a first ever win over Nations FC in any competition when the two Ashanti regional rivals clash on Sunday.
The Porcupines will host Nations FC in a Ghana Premier League (GPL), Matchday 11 fixture at the Len Clay Stadium, Obuasi.
Kotoko, have lost their last three league games, and will also be eager to return to winning ways after making a bright start to the campaign.
In two previous encounters against Nations FC both last season, Kotoko picked just one point from a possible six, a return that cost them severely in the title race.
The 24-times Ghana champions, drew 2-2 with Nations FC in their first encounter last season at Abrankese before losing 1-0 at home in Kumasi in the second round game.
Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum is under pressure to turn things around quickly, and Sunday’s fixture presents him an opportunity to win back some of the trust of their fans.
Nations FC will be a difficult preposition for Kotoko at Obuasi as they are inform at the moment, having won their last three matches and sit second on the table, just one point behind leaders Bibiani Gold Stars after 10 matches.
Kotoko, are sixth with 15 points, four behind Nations FC going into this game, and they can climb third with a win if results elsewhere this weekend favours them.
It’s certainly going to be a tough day for both sides in the mining municipality of Obuasi on Sunday with kick-off time set for 3:00 PM local time.
