Ghana’s Osumanu Haruna, known as ‘Saabo’, successfully defended his WBO Africa Heavyweight title by halting Nigeria’s Idris Affini in the seventh round at the Idrowhyt Events Center in Dansoman on Friday.
After the fight, the talented solo artist performed to the delight of his supporters. Osumanu, now holds a fight record of 16-3 with 11 knockouts while Affini, drops 15-8-2 and 12 knockouts.
The bout, was a rematch of their encounter in December 2023, which Osumanu won on points after the match was halted in round six due to a cut under his left eye from an accidental head butt.
The lively event featured new boxers debuting and seasoned fighters keeping their unbeaten streaks alive.
Up-and-coming star Africanus Neequaye triumphed over Odarlai Lamptey, while Theophilus ‘Lopez’ Allotey bested Jonathan Agbeviade.
New sensation Kevin Abraham easily knocked out Fuseini Ahmed while Daniel Sellasi Gorsh also took two rounds to knock out Isaac Nettey, marking his 14th victory and maintaining his flawless record.
Tokyo 2020 Olympic Bronze medalist Samuel Takyi, nicknamed ‘Ring Warrior’, likewise knocked out seasoned Komlangan Hounkpatin from Togo in their international match.
Fan favorite Abu Kamoko, also known as ‘Ambitious Bukom Tilapia’, defeated loudmouth Kwesi Tutu in the first round.
Miledzi Delali also emerged victorious against Naimou Aziz.
Other bouts saw Emmanuel Quaye winning over Collison Korley, Michael Darko was declared the winner against Isaac Quartey, with Emmanuel Mankattah Sackey defeating Emmanuel Noi Mensah.
Kofi Dana overcame Kazeem Ajiboye while Nathaniel Suppey also triumphed over Frank Mensah.
Salmane Partwata beat Sampson Aryee, Khalid Partwata excelled against Michael Quaye, and Jacob Addokwei Allotey defeated Ebenezer Devoss, while Mubarak Abubakar also won against Thomas Ayittey Okainja in the preliminary bouts.
