Member of Parliament for Abetifi and Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong has vowed to support to Okwawu United back to the Ghanaian top-flight as they compete in the Division One League next season.
The former bankroller for the Soccer Mountaineers revealed how he spent over Ghc1.4m in 2016, including buying a new bus for the club as they sought for that breakthrough.
During his tenure as the chairman, the Agric Minister led the club to the MTN FA Cup Final, but they missed out on promotion to the topflight.
Mr Acheampong has congratulated the club for gaining promotion to the DOL from the Eastern Regional Second Division League, and urged them to work even harder next season.
He also paid tribute to past and current executives and officials of the club.
“I would like to congratulate Akoto Bamfo and the other leaders who have strived through to bring Asaase Aban to Division One,” he said.
“I’m a proud native of Kwahu and I am ever ready to help Okwawu United with my investments in Kwahu; my doors are opened and ready to welcome the leadership of the club and see how best we can revive our traditional club,” he added.
Okwawu United are preparing for action in the DOL next season where they will play in Zone Three, seeking to secure the sole ticket to the top tier of Ghana football.
