Former Ghana international and coach James Kwasi Appiah has been appointed the new head coach of the Sudanese national team according to multiple sources.
The former Black Stars captain, has agreed a three-year deal to take charge of Sudan with the deal set to end in 2026.
Kwasi Appiah led Ghana to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil where Ghana finished bottom of a group that also contained eventual winners, Germany, Portugal and USA.
The Sudanese FA, will hope he brings his vast knowledge of the game to the fore to bring glory back to the former African champions.
Sudan, won the AFCON tournament in 1970, but failed to qualify for next year’s competition in Cote D’Ivoire after failing to qualify from a group that included Gabon, Mauritania and DR Congo.
Kwasi Appiah’s first game in charge of Sudan, will be a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at home to Togo in November ahead of the tournament that will be held in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
