In a stunning display of dominance, FC Samartex secured a noteworthy 1-0 victory against Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko, marking their fifth consecutive home win of the season.
The match saw Samartex seizing control from the onset, with Baba Hamadu Musah having the first chance that unfortunately didn’t find the back of the net. However, Emmanuel Keyekeye emerged as the hero, netting a brilliant free kick in the 30th minute of the first half, securing his third goal of the season and contributing to Samartex’s impressive home form.
Despite a close call for Kotoko in the 37th minute, Samartex’s defense, led by Ebenezer Acquah, held firm, clearing the danger. The second half witnessed Samartex’s continued dominance, with near misses in the 66th and 68th minutes.
The home side showcased resilience in defense, thwarting any attempts by Asante Kotoko to stage a comeback. Unfortunately for Kotoko, the struggle persisted in the second half, resulting in their second consecutive defeat under Coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum this season.
With this triumph, FC Samartex ascended to second place on the league table with 16 points, while Asante Kotoko remains in 15th place with 10 points after completing week 10 of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.
