In a recent announcement, Asante Kotoko SC has made the difficult decision to part ways with forward Abdul Fatawu Safiu due to medical reasons. The club had initially entered into an employment contract with Safiu to meet registration deadlines set by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
In adherence to GFA regulations, a pre-competition medical assessment was conducted. However, subsequent assessments by the club’s medical team unveiled additional health-related issues that could potentially sideline the player for an extended period. In light of this, the club, upon learning of the situation, determined that maintaining the employment contract would not be mutually beneficial for both the club and the player. The specific details of Safiu’s medical condition have been communicated to him.
It’s noteworthy that the GFA rejected Safiu’s registration, making it clear that retaining him would not align with the best interests of the club and the player. As a result, Asante Kotoko SC has formally ended its relationship with Abdul Fatawu Safiu.
The club extends its best wishes to Safiu for his future endeavors and reassures him that he remains a valued part of the Asante Kotoko family. The door is open for him to contribute in any capacity in the future.
Signed,
Management.
