Tanzanian football giants, Simba SC, have set their sights on Derrick Fordjour, the forward from Ghanaian champions Medeama SC, as they aim to bolster their squad ahead of the 2024-25 football season.
Negotiations between Simba SC and Medeama SC have advanced significantly, indicating strong interest from both parties in completing the transfer.
Fordjour, who committed to a four-year deal with Medeama in 2022, has earned recognition for his outstanding performances, particularly during Medeama’s title-winning campaign in the 2022-23 Premier League season. With two goals and five assists in 27 appearances, Fordjour played a crucial role in his team’s triumph.
His influence extended to the continental stage, where he played a pivotal role in Medeama’s historic progression to the group stage of the CAF Champions League, featuring prominently in all six matches.
Despite being just 21 years old, Fordjour has already made 19 appearances in the Ghanaian top division this season, demonstrating his talent with one goal and several assists.
Fordjour’s impressive displays have attracted attention from other African clubs, including Tanzania’s Young Africans SC, who have also expressed interest in acquiring his services. Additionally, clubs from Northern Africa are closely monitoring the situation and are poised to make offers in the near future.
With his performances on the continental stage raising his profile, Fordjour finds himself at the center of a competitive bidding war as multiple clubs vie for his signature, highlighting his potential as a rising star in African football.
