Ghanaian athlete Rexford has set a new national record in discus at the just ended National Open Championship.
The event was held at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi where the 28-year old set a new throw of 55.22m to claim the record as his own.
He beat the old mark of 52.98m set in 2010 by Kwabena Keene in the United States.
Bugase’s new mark set on May 18, 2024, is 2.24m better than the old mark set on April 14, 2010 at the ACC Championships in Clemson, United States.
Bugase, will look to build on this performance going forward as he seeks to get to international standards.
He performed for Ghana at the 13th African Games held in Accra in March, but failed to medal.
