Three-time Ghanaian Paralympian and Commonwealth Games participant, Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe has donated new sports wheelchairs to three promising para athletes in Accra to aid in their development.
From the Topend brand, the wheelchairs were presented to Perpetual Sabbah, (14), 22 year-old Emmanuel Gyasi and young Fadiga Mohammed all of the Gogetdem Club in Accra.
All three para athletes, expressed appreciation for the donation, and promised to train even harder to win laurels for Ghana and make themselves proud.
Deputy Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) Alhaji Majeed Bawa, commended Botsyo Nkegbe for his initiative and promised his outfits support to raise and train more disabled sportsmen and women as they target the 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.
He hinted that Coach Botsyo Nkegbe will soon enroll to stydy and be certified at the University of Education at Winneba.
Gogetdem Wheelchair Racing Club was established in August 2012 by Botsyo Nkegbe to improve the lives of disabled persons, especially the disabled youth in rural areas using sports as a tool to create opportunities in order to empower them to live fulfilling lives.
Botsyo Nkegbe, said, these are the third generation of para athletes since the establishment of the club, and promised to do more to offer opportunities for disabled youth to get into sport and make a healthy living.
