Ghana bowed out of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) football tournament with a game to spare after drawing 1-1 with Angola in Luanda on Friday.
The Black Stars needed to win this Group I qualifier to stand in with a chance of making it to the tourney in Morocco next year.
The four-times winners of the competition, had been given a lifeline by Niger after they defeated Sudan 4-0 on Thursday to throw the second qualification spot wide open in the group.
Ghana, cannot now qualify even if they beat the Nigerians in Accra on Monday.
The Black Stars lie bottom of the group with three points from the five matches they have played, leaving second placed Sudan in pole position to qualify in they can manage a draw in their final group game at home to Angola.
Already qualified Angola, are now unbeaten in their last 13 games in all competitions, winning nine with four drawn games.
The last time Ghana won an AFCON away qualifier, was on November, 18, 2019 when the Black Stars beat Sao Tome and Principe 1-0.
Ghana, have failed to qualify for the AFCON tournament for the first time since 2004.
Angola lead the group with 13 points plus five goals, with Sudan on seven points and plus two goals, Niger have four points with no goals as Ghana sit bottom of the stairs with three points and minus three goals.
