Ghana won 2-1 over Kenya in their opening tie of the African Zone IV Davis Cup tournament ongoing in Rwanda.
The Golden Rackets, won the decisive doubles encounter to record the win after the singles tie were shared on Wednesday.
Ghana’s double pairing of top seed Isaac Nortey and Desmond Ayaaba, won 7-5, 6-4 against Kenya’s team of Ibrahim Kibet Yego and Ismael Changawa Mzai.
Isaac Nortey, had earlier won 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 in the opening singles game against Kael Shalin Shah.
Ibrahim Kibet Yego, leveled the tie for Kenya after beating Desmond Ayaaba 6-4, 7-5 to set up a winner takes all tie in doubles which the Golden Rackets won.
Team Ghana will look to build on this performance in Kigali as the tournament continues on Thursday.
The Golden Rackets, are hoping to secure qualification to the Africa Zone III in this ongoing tournament which ends on Saturday.
