Modernization of football to meet the insatiable demand of fans has been an undeniable priority for football clubs. Teams; local and foreign have a daunting challenge of developing their facilities that befits their standards.
Our local clubs coming to realization that to meet the quality and growing standards of football on the continent, upgrading off field is essential. Kumasi Asante Kotoko, one of the two most successful clubs in the country is on course to see a facelift. The life patron of the club, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has indicated that he’ll redevelop Adako Jachie training complex for the club. The club’s administration has passed through different hands in recent years, with Dr. K. K Sarpong’s dream of establishing an edifice for the club coming to a halt after the end of his tenure of office. The recent Dr. Kwame Kyei- led administration see Nana Yaw Amponsah and his management embark on a vision to redevelop their own edifice at the training grounds but that too couldn’t see the light of the day after expiration of their term of office.
This development from the life patron of the club comes as welcoming news for the fans of the porcupines. It is worth noting that the famous King publicly declared how embarrassed the club he inherited makes him feel. Kumasi Asante Kotoko as a traditional club is one of the institutions His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the ruler of the Ashanti Kingdom inherited as he ascended the throne in 1999.
Currently, the day-to-day administration of the Kumasi-based club has been left in the hands of an Interim Management Committee. The technical team and the playing body are currently at Beposo for their pre season training Ahead of the next league season that kick off in September.
