Ghana’s representative in the CAF Confederation Cup, Dreams FC, are confident of doing well in the competition as they make their maiden appearance.
The MTN FA Cup winners, will take on Guinea’s Milo FC in a first round of the competition in a two-legged affair starting next week.
And ahead of their first appearance in continental competition, the ‘Still Believe’ lads, are hopeful of overcoming the Guinean obstacle and go on to do well in the competition.
Representatives of the team on Thursday, called on the Minister of Youth and Sports to make their case ahead of its African campaign.
The visit to the Sports Ministry formed part of their preparations for the competition and the season ahead.
General Manager of the club Ameenu Shardow said: “We have made all the efforts to prepare the team well for this challenge.”
He added: “The technical team and playing body have been boosted with some quality additions and we’re confident we will do well.”
Dreams FC, will be away to Milo FC in the first leg qualifier in Conakry on Saturday, August 19 with the return fixture to be played in Accra on August 25.
Minister for Youth and Sports Mustapha Ussif charged the team to put up a good show as Ghana’s representative in the competition, and assured them of the state’s support.
“As a representative of the nation, it is our expectation that you put up a very good show,” he said.
“Ghana’s performance in African club competition in recent times have not been inspiring and it’s our hope that Dreams FC changes this narrative next season.
“We will do our best to offer all the support required to help you perform well,” the Minister added.
Dreams FC have been in preparation for the coming contest for over two weeks now, and they will head to Guinea in confident mood of securing a good result to take into the return encounter in Ghana.
