The 2023 Gbese Manste Homowo Charity Cup match, has been called off following the withdrawal of Accra Great Olympics.
The game was set to come off at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, with the Wonder Club set to face old foes and city rivals Accra Hearts of Oak.
Great Olympics pulled out of the contest on Friday, the organizers announced in a statement released to the local media.
No reasons where given for the withdrawal of the Wonder Club, who have been in pre-season training for a month now.
The organizers, have apologized to the Nii Dr Ayi Bonte, the Gbese Manste, the Ghana Football Association and the football fraternity, for this incident
This is a setback for local football fans in the capital who were eager to see the latest installment of the capital city derby between Great Olympics and Hearts of Oak.
No new date was given for the game, and this may not come off before the start of the new season.
The 2023/24 campaign, is set to kickoff on September 15 with the betPawa Premier League.
Great Olympics who are under a new technical team, may be hoping to bid time to be in good shape before they open their account with a home game against Bofoakwa Tano in Accra.
