Ampem Darkoa Ladies, the reigning Ghanaian champions, kicked off their campaign in the WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualifiers in impressive fashion, securing a commanding 4-2 triumph over Togolese side Amis Du Monde. The match, held at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, witnessed an outstanding performance from Mary Amponsah, who single-handedly propelled her team to victory with four well-executed goals.
Right from the start, Mary Amponsah made her presence felt on the field, breaking the deadlock just a minute after the kickoff with a powerful header. However, the Togolese champions responded swiftly, capitalizing on a loose mark in the penalty box to restore parity on the 17th minute.
Not to be discouraged, Mary Amponsah showed her prowess again on the 21st minute, taking advantage of a goalkeeper’s mistake to restore the lead for Ampem Darkoa Ladies. With a comfortable advantage, the Ghanaian side continued to dominate the game. Just ten minutes into the second half, Mary Amponsah found the back of the net once more, netting her third goal of the match and extending the lead to 4-1.
Although Amis Du Monde managed to score again, reducing the deficit to two goals, it was not enough to thwart Ampem Darkoa Ladies’ dominance. The Ghanaian side held their ground, maintaining their two-goal lead until the final whistle.
Looking ahead, Ampem Darkoa Ladies will now face Ivorian outfit Atletico FC in their next game, scheduled for Friday, August 25, 2023. As the team continues their quest for glory in the WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualifiers, fans eagerly anticipate another exhilarating display of skill and determination from the Ghanaian champions.
