MTN, the telecommunications company has hinted at developing uncompleted and old structures at Asante Kotoko’s training complex.
The colossal multinational company directly and indirectly contributed to the development of the local footballing powerhouse having constructed a FIFA standard world-class natural grass pitch for Kumasi Asante Kotoko in 2019. The telco which as part of their social responsibilities been supporting and sponsoring clubs and the FA’s tournament has entered into an agreement with the porcupines to complete infrastructures left by outgone administration.
The Adako Jachie training complex, having passed through the hands of different administrations has seen leaden stages of growth. Having moved to Adako Jachie, The Dr. K. K. Sarpong led administration made plans in constructing a modern edifice befitting of the club’s status. Yet their intentions ended after their term of office elapsed. Though the club has undergone disparate administrative changes, the current outgone board, led by Dr. Kwame Kyei and Nana Yaw Amponsah-led management initiated another structure contrary to the already in place but left to hit the skids. The current project which was earmarked to be completed within 18 months has seen 36 months without completion.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the life patron of the club hinted at face-lifting the club’s training complex through infrastructural development after inspection of the club’s facilities at Adako Jachie at the beginning of this month. MTN, a no stranger to the club has formally and secondarily aided the club in various numerous ways.
With the club’s administration left in the hands of an Interim Management Committee, the club’s traditional owner is directly involved in their daily activities. Meetings between the Teleco; MTN and the Kumasi based club have been held, a compromise is almost reached for the development of the abandoned facilities at Adako Jachie.
