Dreams FC Secures Narrow Victory Against FC Kallon in CAF Confederation Cup Qualifiers
In an exhilarating clash, Ghana Premier League outfit, Dreams FC, emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over FC Kallon of Sierra Leone in the second qualifying round of the CAF Confederation Cup. The match took place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, September 15.
The “Still Believe Boys” wasted no time taking the lead, with Godfred Atuahene finding the back of the net just 11 minutes into the game. His goal provided Dreams FC, who are also the Ghana FA Cup holders, with an early advantage.
However, FC Kallon showed great resilience and managed to equalize just before the halftime whistle, bringing the score to 1-1. Both teams headed into the break with everything still to play for.
During the second half, Dreams FC regained their composure and veteran striker John Antwi stepped up to the plate. Antwi confidently converted a penalty, doubling Dreams’ lead and putting them ahead 2-1.
The match concluded with Dreams FC holding onto their slim advantage and heading into the reverse fixture with FC Kallon. This victory comes after Dreams FC eliminated another competition entrant, Milo FC of Guinea, in the previous round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
In the first leg against Milo FC, Dreams FC secured a 1-1 draw away at the Lansana Conteh Stadium in Conakry. They then showcased their strength at home, clinching a 2-1 victory to seal a 3-2 overall win.
Looking ahead, Dreams FC will face FC Kallon once again in the second leg, which will take place in two weeks’ time in Free Town, Sierra Leone. The Ghanaian club will be eager to maintain their momentum and secure their spot in the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
