Head coach of Medeama SC, Augustine Adotey has told fans of the club to channel their grievances to the appropriate Authorities as he’s not the appropriate person to be approached with such suggestions.
In a presser ahead of their encounter with Accra lions at Tarkwa, the Betpawa Ghana premier league winning coach opened up to fans to submit their suggestions to the club’s president. He revealed that fans have been approaching him to tell him about the performances of some players and continue to advocate for the transfer of those players.
He said, “ if you don’t need a player, I cannot ask the player to go away. They can also carry their grievances to the club president. As a coach I can’t come out and tell a player that I don’t need you again. In the next window, I have the authority to tell my club president or CEO that this player should be put on transfer. Our first league game comes off tomorrow (Wednesday) and you expect me to let go off a player because you don’t need him. If they (fans) don’t want a player to leave, they can compensate the player and let him leave or better still talk to the club president because in any case, it’s the club president’s duty to compensate players we will want to terminate their contracts and I can’t sideline the player. Before the season, I carry a message to the club’s president that we need 30 players and 10 young players before the season. Some of the players are registered, I can’t let them go and we have to keep them. If we’re keeping them too it’s the president that pays them which I don’t have any problem. My problem is keeping so many players on the field of play. So if you want a player out, talk to the club’s president that you don’t need the player and if I also see the need to transfer the player, it will be done the following year.”
In other issues, he disclosed that a team captain and a deputy captain will be announced before Sunday. Coach Adotey also stressed on how difficult to compete in the CAF champions league and the Premier league concurrently and that the squad that played against Horoya may be altered.
The defending champions kickstarts their season at home against Accra Lions after seeing their first match of the league season been postponed due to their CAF champions league first leg game against Horoya AC at Cape Coast Stadium which saw them emerge victorious.
