In a spirited effort to combat unemployment and foster harmony between expatriates and locals, Keda Ceramics Company in Ghana is set to kick off the 4th edition of the Keda Cup. This annual event, held at the picturesque Aboadze Community Park from September 30th to December 16th, 2023, is not just about football; it’s a symbol of hope and a glimpse into a brighter future for the company.
Keda Ceramics Company, a multinational powerhouse with branches in countries like Tanzania, Kenya, Senegal, and Zambia, has been a pioneer in manufacturing ceramics and tiles in Ghana. Their commitment to creating jobs has resulted in the employment of approximately 4000 Ghanaians, with plans for even more in the coming years.
The brainchild of this remarkable event, Dr. David Yevugah, the Director of Corporate Affairs and Human Resources, alongside the Administrative Manager, Mr. Eugene Commey, unveiled this year’s Keda Cup roster on the airwaves of Takoradi-based Westgold Radio. Their vision extends beyond this yearly competition; they aspire to establish a formidable football club that can compete at various divisions in Ghana, and the journey begins with the Keda Cup.
While Keda Ghana may be just six years old, this year’s Keda Cup marks its fourth edition. The Raw Materials Department has emerged as the most successful, clinching victory in two of the last three editions. However, the Administration Department, responsible for the event’s organization, is determined to claim their first title. The Kiln Department seeks to defend their champion status, while other departments like GL, Engineering (E&E), Tech, Press, Polish, Warehouse, and Sanitary are gearing up to make their mark.
This year’s tournament will feature a league-style competition with weekly fixtures scheduled at the Aboadze Community Park in Inchaban. The anticipation among employees and supporters alike is palpable, as unity and competition come together in a thrilling display of talent and teamwork.
The Keda Cup 2023 promises not only thrilling football but also a celebration of unity and the promise of a brighter future. Invited dignitaries, including the Shama District Chief Executive (DCE), the Managing Director of Keda, the Factory Director, and the Director of Corporate Affairs, will grace the occasion.
In the spirit of “Unity in All Things,” the Keda Cup 2023 is set to be an exceptional edition that unites communities, celebrates talent, and brings hope to the forefront. As the footballs hit the pitch, the future begins now for Keda Ghana and its vision for a brighter, more united tomorrow.
