In a groundbreaking development for Ghanaian football, Nguvu Mining Ltd is set to unveil their substantial sponsorship deal with Medeama Sporting Club, worth an impressive $300,000. The official announcement is scheduled for Friday, 6th October,2023 and is poised to provide a significant boost to Medeama SC as they prepare for the upcoming Caf Champions League.
This substantial sponsorship agreement was expertly lobbied by the Member of Parliament for Tarkwa and Deputy Minister of Lands & Natural Resources, Honorable George Mireku Duker. Ghanaians are already expressing their appreciation with a resounding “ayie kooo Hon Duker.”
Nguvu Mining Ltd, founded by Angela List, a Ghanaian with over two decades of experience in the mining industry, has steadily expanded its presence in the sector. Their journey began with the acquisition of Adamus Resources Limited in Ghana from Endeavour Mining in 2016. In 2018, Nguvu added Segala Mining SA in Mali to its portfolio, also acquired from Endeavour Mining.
The group’s expansion continued in 2019 with the purchase of 80% of Samira Hill SA, a mine in Niger, previously owned by Semafo Inc, from the government of Niger. This was followed by the acquisition of Northern Ashanti Mines Co. Ltd., formerly known as Owere Mines, in Ghana.
Nguvu Mining Ltd has further diversified its mining assets, with an advanced mine in Burkina Faso acquired from Newmont, expected to commence production by the end of 2023. The group also holds exploration licenses in Cote d’Ivoire and Liberia, demonstrating their commitment to expanding their operations across the region.
Currently, Nguvu Mining recovers, produces, and sells approximately 250,000 ounces of gold annually, with expectations of continued growth from existing operations and new developments. Impressively, the company employs around 3,000 people, with 90% of its workforce being locally employed and 60% of its management also hailing from the local community.
The sponsorship deal between Nguvu Mining Ltd and Medeama SC signifies a powerful synergy between the mining industry and sports in Ghana, promising exciting prospects for both parties and raising the bar for corporate involvement in Ghanaian football.
