In a show of dissent against the current leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the Ghana Football Stakeholders Forum, a prominent pressure group, took to the streets on Wednesday, October 4, to voice their concerns and demand change.
The demonstration, led by well-known Ghanaian football enthusiast Abraham Boakye and club administrator Charles Ntim, highlighted their discontent with the way Kurt Okraku has managed the GFA, suggesting that he has operated it as his personal domain, seemingly disregarding established rules and regulations. Their protest called for government intervention to rectify the situation and restore order within the association.
A key point of contention for the group was Kurt Okraku’s uncontested re-election as GFA President. This came after his main competitor, George Afriyie, was disqualified for failing to provide the required number of signatures to support his candidacy. The Ghana Football Stakeholders Forum found this turn of events deeply troubling and called for a more transparent and democratic electoral process within the GFA.
During the protest, the group delivered a formal petition outlining their grievances and demands to the relevant authorities. Their actions reflect a desire for accountability, transparency, and fairness within the Ghana Football Association, as they seek to ensure that the sport remains a source of pride and unity for the nation.
