In the aftermath of an unfortunate incident during the recent match between Nation’s FC and Asante Kotoko, former Board chairman and owner of the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, Dr. Kwame Kyei, has appealed for peace and unity among supporters. The incident saw the destruction of chairs and the throwing of water bottles and stones by a section of Kotoko fans.
Dr. Kyei, a devoted Kotoko supporter and owner of the sports complex, expressed his concern about the misunderstanding among the supporters and the damage caused during the game. He emphasized that the sports stadium he had acquired ultimately belongs to Kotoko, as he himself is a loyal fan of the club.
In a gesture of goodwill, Dr. Kyei stated that he would cover the costs for the broken chairs, relieving Kotoko of the financial burden for the damage incurred. He also offered valuable advice to fans, urging them to draw lessons from past incidents, particularly referring to the tragic events of May 9th.
Dr. Kwame Kyei’s call for unity and reconciliation aims to foster a sense of togetherness and sportsmanship among Kotoko supporters, ensuring that such incidents are avoided in the future. This demonstration of sportsmanship and support for the club is a positive step toward maintaining a harmonious relationship between the fans and the management of the team.
