Bechem United showcased their resurgence in the Ghana Premier League with a thrilling victory over Great Olympics at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on a Wednesday afternoon.
The Hunters claimed a 2-1 win in this matchday eight encounter, extending their unbeaten streak to four matches, consisting of two wins and two draws.
Bechem’s coach, Bismark Kobi-Mensah, made just one change to the starting lineup that had faced Asante Kotoko SC in the previous round in Kumasi over the weekend. Isaiah Nyarko replaced Clinton Duodu, while Dari Aziz Haruna continued to guard the goalposts, and young talent Adams Sanut earned his fourth consecutive start.
On the other side, Great Olympics’ head coach, Annor Walker, opted for consistency, making no changes to the squad that had secured a victory against Nations FC at the Accra Sports Stadium the previous Saturday.
The breakthrough in the match came in the 42nd minute when Bechem’s cult hero, Augustine Okrah, connected with a pass from Abdul Karim, putting his team ahead.
However, Great Olympics weren’t ready to concede defeat, and in the 74th minute, versatile defender Samuel Abbey Ashie Quaye equalized, making the match level.
The Hunters displayed their determination, retaking the lead in the 81st minute when substitute Emmanuel Owusu found the back of the net.
This victory propelled Bechem United from the lower half of the league standings to the 6th position, marking a significant climb after their impressive performance on Wednesday. The match not only showcased their resurgence but also the competitive spirit that thrives in the Ghana Premier League.
