The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has imposed a hefty fine of GHC80,000 on Asante Kotoko following the regrettable misconduct witnessed during their match against Nations FC in the Ghana Premier League.
Incidents of vandalism erupted among fans of the club at the Dr Kwame Kyei Complex subsequent to the 2-2 draw held on October 23, 2023. Despite Asante Kotoko pleading not guilty, the FA’s thorough investigations revealed the club’s involvement in the misconduct, leading to the imposed sanction.
The entire fine amount is designated to facilitate the repair of damages incurred at the Dr Kwame Kyei Complex, providing restitution to Nations FC for the destruction caused by the Porcupine Warriors’ supporters.
Additionally, midfielder Sheriff Mohammed has faced sanctions from the FA due to his involvement in the misconduct during the aforementioned game.
Meanwhile, amidst the disciplinary actions, Asante Kotoko managed to break a three-game losing streak by securing a victory against Medeama SC on Sunday, signaling a return to winning ways for the Reds.
