Accra, Ghana – The Ministry of Youth and Sports has released an official statement expressing its strong condemnation of the violent attack that took place during a league match between Bofoakwa Tano and Nsoatreman F.C on Sunday, 19th November, 2023 at the Sunyani Coronation Park.
The Ministry firmly believes that acts of violence have no place in football and extends its heartfelt wishes for Coach Maxwell Konadu’s swift recovery. In light of this incident, the Ministry urges the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, to conduct a thorough investigation.
Acknowledging the commitment of the Ghana Police Service to apprehend the suspects responsible for this appalling act, the Ministry implores the police to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice. This would send a clear message that violence in football will not be tolerated.
Furthermore, the Ministry calls on the Ghana Football Association to work closely with all necessary stakeholders to enhance security at all match venues. The safety of teams, players, and spectators should be paramount, and concerted efforts must be made to create an environment free from violence and hooliganism.
Football is a unifying force, and it is disheartening to witness incidents that tarnish the beautiful game. The Ministry stands in solidarity with all victims of this unacceptable incident and reaffirms its commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive football environment for all.
The Ministry also appeals to football enthusiasts and stakeholders to uphold the values of fair play, sportsmanship, and respect, ensuring that Ghanaian football remains a source of pride and joy for all.
