Ghana opened camp in Kumasi on Tuesday as the Black Stars started their preparations for the 2023 AFCON tournament in Cote D’Ivoire later this month.
The first training session was held at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, Abrankese, Kumasi with 24 out of the 27 players selected in attendance.
Coach Chris Hughton and his technical team members, will closely work on the players during this training camp to put them in shape for the tournament.
Prior to their departure for the tournament, Ghana will play Namibia in a final friendly in Kumasi next week Monday at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The Black Stars will be looking to win the tournament for the first time since 1982 in the face of some expected tough challenges.
Ghana are in Group B with Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique and will play their matches at the FHB Stadium in Plateau- Abidjan.
The Black Stars open their account against Cape Verde on January 14 a day after the tournament starts.
Ghana, will then play Egypt and Mozambique in further group games, hoping to progress to the second round of the competition from where they will look to march on to the grand finale and hopefully win it.
