In a significant boost to their squad, Asante Kotoko has successfully extended the contract of defensive stalwart Justice Blay, ensuring his presence at the club until January 2025.
Blay, who initially joined Kotoko on loan during the 2019-2020 season, quickly endeared himself to fans with 25 appearances, contributing two goals and three assists. Despite his impressive performances, a permanent move was elusive due to complications with his parent club at the time.
Undeterred, Blay secured a permanent move in 2022, becoming an integral part of the team and clinching a Premier League victory in the process. Not confined to his natural role as a defensive midfielder, the versatile player adapted seamlessly to a three-back system, amassing eight appearances in the new position.
With his contract set to expire at the end of the month, the 31-year-old has committed to Asante Kotoko for another year, with an option to extend further. Speaking to the club’s media, Blay expressed his joy, stating, “I am happy to have renewed my stay. Kotoko means everything to me and my family. I appreciate the support of everyone in the club, the head coach, and the entire management team. And like I have done before in the past, I will continue to do even better.” As Justice Blay continues his journey with the club, Kotoko fans eagerly anticipate his continued contributions on the pitch.
