The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has imposed a fine of GHS100,000 on Real Tamale United FC (RTU FC) for actions that brought the game into disrepute, contrary to Section 34(6)(d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations.
During the Matchday 28 game against Dreams FC at the Theatre of Dreams, RTU FC was found to have intentionally deceived match officials by using unregistered players to impersonate officially registered players.
RTU FC pleaded guilty to the charges and asked for leniency. In their defense, the club explained that they were in a difficult situation as their registered players refused to make the trip, and the officials believed their actions were intended to alleviate the club’s already bad situation.
The GFA Disciplinary Committee, in its ruling, found RTU FC guilty of misconduct and imposed the fine. Additionally, the officials who led the team to the match—Iddi Manzah Alhassan, Abdul-Samed Iddrisu, Abdul-Gafaru Salifu, Tanko Jentumah, and Sylvester Yaw Apanka—have each been handed a one-year ban from all football-related activities with immediate effect.
