Champions Medeama SC were held to a pulsating 2-2 draw by Accra Lions as they began the defence of the BetPawa Premier League (BPL) they won last season.
Wednesday’s game at the Akoon Community Park, Tarkwa, didn’t fail to disappoint with goals in both halves of the game.
Also on Wednesday, MTN FA Cup winners Dreams FC, beat newly promoted Nations FC 1-0 at the Theatre of Dreams Park, Dawu to open their account with a win.
Accra Lions, opened the scoring at Tarkwa in the 20th minute through Samuel Gyimah, and they held on for a first half lead at the home of the champions.
Medeama SC equalized in the 56th minute through Emmanuel Lomotey, but Ali Mohammed restored Lions’ lead in the 80th minute as they threatened to run away with the three points.
However, Jonathan Sowah, restored parity for the Yellow and Mauves with four minutes to end the proceedings as the spoils were shared in the mining township.
At Dawu, a first half strike by Ebenezer Adade, was enough to win all three points for Dreams FC as they beat Nations FC 1-0 on the Akwapim Ridge.
The 2023/24 BetPawa Premier League will continue this weekend with the Matchday Two fixtures across all centers nationwide.
