The GFA Foundation has stepped forward to assist victims affected by the Akosombo and Kpong Dams spillage with a generous donation of One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS100,000.00). This benevolent act aims to alleviate the suffering of communities and clubs impacted by the unfortunate spillage.
The financial aid will be utilized to purchase essential relief items, including student mattresses, toiletries, and staple food items such as rice, gari, sugar, and sachet water. These provisions will be distributed to individuals residing in the areas most severely affected by the spillage.
The GFA Foundation took a proactive approach by entrusting the Volta Regional Football Association with the responsibility of executing this humanitarian mission on behalf of the Ghana Football Association. Within a week, they will oversee the distribution of relief items to those in need.
The Volta Regional Football Association, responsible for fostering football development in both the Volta and Oti regions, has been on the ground, providing support and assessing the situation. They have maintained open lines of communication with the headquarters in Accra, sending daily updates and reports to coordinate the relief efforts.
This act of kindness was made possible through the approval and direction of the Board of Trustees of the GFA Foundation and the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association. President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku expressed the Association’s sincere sympathy for the spillage victims and its commitment to participating in collaborative endeavors aimed at mitigating the impact of future spillages.
