The National Investment Bank (NIB), has taken an early lead in the 2023 Bankers Football League.
The competition got underway on Saturday at the La McDan Astro Turf in Accra with nine Ghanaian financial institutions participating.
NIB, have a 100 per cent record in this year’s competition after winning their opening two games on Saturday.
They beat the Bank of Ghana (BoG), 2-0 in the first game of the day, and repeated that feat against First National Bank in the fifth game of the day.
NIB, have six points from their opening two matches and, they will look to build on this performance for the reminder of the campaign.
In second position after two matches are Cal Bank who have four points alongside the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) and CBG who both won and drew on the opening day.
Cal Bank beat First National Bank 2-0 in their opening game, before drawing goalless with Access Bank for their four points.
GCB, won 2-1 against Stanbic Bank, and drew 1-1 with BoG; CBG, drew goalless with Access Bank in their first game before beating Stanbic Bank 1-0 to close their campaign for the day.
Access Bank, have two points from two games, followed by BoG on one with Stanbic Bank and First National Bank yet to register a point.
The competition will continue this Saturday at the La McDan Astro Turf with the first game of the day starting at 3:00pm local time.
