The Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GBF) will organize the 2023 National Individual Boxing Championship at the Sports Hall, Accra Sports Stadium from 12th July to 14th July, 2023.
The Federation is therefore inviting all persons of interest within the boxing space to fight for places in the national team, the Black Bombers.
Amateur boxers will seek to gain entry into the national team in all weight categories as the nation outs together a new select side.
The Black Bombers will represent Ghana at the Olympic Games qualifiers in Senegal later this year and the next Africa Games to be held in Accra in March 2024.
National coach Ofori Asare is expecting a competitive competition with the stakes very high.
About 100 boxers are expected to vie for honours at the championship with some surprises and upsets not being ruled out.
There will be bouts in all 13 male weight classes and 12 in the female category.
The last National Individual Championship was held two year ago to select representatives for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England where Ghana won two silver and one bronze medals.
