Ghana have been drawn with Mali in Group I for the qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup in the Africa region.
The Black Stars are also housed in this group with Madagascar, the Central African Republic, the Islanders of Comoros and the Republic of Chad.
The draw for the African qualifiers for the 2026 Mundial was held on Thursday in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire.
Africa’s draw, had 52 countries in the pot, with the top teams in the nine qualifying groups going through to the finals in North America.
The Group I draw, seems to be a straight fight between Mali and Ghana with the two West African nations, the powerhouses in the pool.
The Black Stars will look to finish top of this group and qualify for a fifth Mundial after appearing at the 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2022 events in Germany, South Africa, Brazil and Qatar respectively.
Qualifying for the 2026 Mundial in Africa, starts in November this year across all nine groups with African champions Senegal in Group B alongside DR Congo, Mauritania, Togo, Sudan and South Sudan.
Egypt, Burkina Faso, Guinea Bissau, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia and Djibouti in Group A.
Nigeria, South Africa, Benin, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Lesotho are in Group C with Cameroon, Cape Verde, Angola, Libya, Eswatini and Mauritius in Group D.
Morocco, Zambia, Congo, Tanzania, Niger and Eritrea are in Group E with Cote D’Ivoire, Gabon, Kenya, Gambia, Burundi and Seychelles in Group F.ü
Group G comprises Algeria, Guinea, Uganda, Mozambique, Botswana and Somalia with Tunisia, Equitorial Guinea, Namibia, Malawi and the Islanders of Sao Tome in Group H, completing the pairings.
